Congratulations on a very relevant post. It's absolutely true that we need to know about the cultures of others, but what really caught my attention is "Scheduling time for building relationships...".
I belong to the same online community of practice as your teacher, the Webheads in Action, and along the years we have seen how important it is to socialize. We have a weekly meeting online and it has helped builb bonds, friendships and a sense of community.
